Jeremiah Steples: The Boy We Witnessed Baptized Is Ready to Fly

A Sacred Celebration of Growth, Grace, and Graduation — Class of 2026

There are moments in the life of a church when time seems to stand still for just a second—moments when a congregation realizes it has not simply watched a child grow, but has helped shape a young life through prayer, encouragement, worship, laughter, and love. This graduation season is one of those sacred moments for the family of Advent Lutheran Church as we celebrate the remarkable journey of Jeremiah Stepples.

Many at Advent still remember the day Jeremiah was baptized. Others remember his confirmation journey, his childhood smile running through church hallways, his early school years, and the quiet but steady way he grew before everyone’s eyes. It feels almost impossible to believe how quickly the years climbed like steps on a ladder—from Grade One to High School Graduation 2026. The congregation has witnessed every season along the way, and now celebrates this milestone with overwhelming joy, gratitude, and pride.

Jeremiah is deeply loved at Advent because of who he is—not simply for what he has accomplished. Many people have often been surprised by his maturity. His height and appearance may make him seem older than his age, but it is his character that truly stands out. Jeremiah is a young man of few words, yet his presence speaks loudly. He listens deeply. He smiles sincerely. He carries himself with humility, kindness, and quiet confidence. Whether speaking with children, youth, adults, or seniors, Jeremiah treats everyone with genuine respect. He has the rare ability to make people feel valued simply by being present.

One thing that has always been clear about Jeremiah is this: he loves Jesus. His faith has never been performative—it has been visible in the way he lives, serves, and treats others. At church, Jeremiah faithfully participated in the praise team, served as an acolyte and usher, and supported mission and outreach ministries with willingness and joy. He consistently demonstrated compassion toward others, especially those in need, reflecting the love of Christ through simple but meaningful acts of service. His joyful spirit and servant-hearted attitude have left a lasting impression on the Advent community.

Jeremiah’s love for family is equally beautiful. His affection for his mother, father, grandparents, and relatives is unmistakable. In fact, many jokingly say that when Jeremiah speaks with his mother, it is hard to tell whether he is talking to his mom or to someone he is deeply admiring—because of the warmth, tenderness, and closeness they share. The same is true with his father. Their bond has been strengthened through encouragement, sports, life lessons, and unforgettable moments together. Two memories especially stand out: Jeremiah hitting a home run for his dad on Father’s Day, and his final at-bat as a Callaway Cavalier player ending in a grand slam. Those moments were more than baseball highlights; they became treasured family memories filled with pride, emotion, and celebration.

And then there is Ralo—Jeremiah’s beloved dog and faithful companion. Anyone who saw Jeremiah’s senior pictures quickly noticed the special bond between the two. Ralo is more than a pet; he is part of Jeremiah’s story. Their connection reflects Jeremiah’s gentle heart, loyalty, and love for companionship. Beyond this, Jeremiah’s passion for sports—especially baseball—revealed his discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and competitive spirit. Whether on the field or off, he has consistently demonstrated determination and heart.

Jeremiah also values friendship deeply. While he enjoys conversations with mature adults and older generations, he equally treasures the friendships he has built with people his own age. His prom memories, friendships, laughter, and shared experiences with classmates have become important chapters of his high school journey. Jeremiah has the rare gift of connecting naturally across generations—comfortable with grandparents and peers alike.

Above all, Jeremiah loves life and embraces adventure. When asked about his greatest achievement so far, he points not to trophies or statistics, but to perseverance. That quiet resilience says much about who he is becoming.

This fall, Jeremiah will attend Middle Georgia State University to pursue aviation with the dream of becoming a commercial pilot. For many, flying is simply a profession. But for Jeremiah, there is something deeper taking shape—a calling filled with purpose, exploration, and faith. Soon he will rise above clouds, cross cities and nations, and help carry people safely according to their travel plans. Yet as a young man grounded in Christ, there is also hope that wherever he flies, he will carry something even greater: the light, compassion, and message of Jesus Christ.

God’s world is wide, and Jeremiah’s journey is only beginning. The same God who guided him through baptism, childhood, confirmation, friendships, family, service, sports, and graduation will continue guiding his flight path ahead.

And Advent celebrates with confidence, joy, and thanksgiving—because one of its own is preparing to soar.
