Seeing God’s Provision with Eyes of Faith Psalm 65:9–13
How do you explain the blessings in your life?
Some see coincidence. Others see good timing, hard work, or simply nature taking its course. The psalmist sees something more. Looking at rain nourishing the earth, fields ready for harvest, and valleys overflowing with abundance, he sees the faithful hand of God.
That is one of the beautiful truths of faith: faith notices what others overlook.
As I reflected on Psalm 65 this week, I found myself asking, “Lord, where have I overlooked Your blessings because they seemed so ordinary?” That question changed the way I looked at my day. A conversation with a friend, the kindness of a stranger, a meal shared with family, another sunrise, another opportunity to serve—none of these are merely ordinary when viewed through the eyes of faith. They become reminders of God’s gracious provision.

The psalmist also reminds us that gratitude is more than saying, “Thank You.” Gratitude reshapes our hearts. It makes us more humble because we recognize every good gift comes from God. It makes us more hopeful because the God who has been faithful in the past will continue to be faithful in the future.
As Christians, our greatest reason for gratitude is found in Jesus Christ. Rain and harvest sustain life for a season, but in Christ we discover God’s greatest provision—His forgiveness, His mercy, and the gift of eternal life. Apart from Christ, we may enjoy God’s gifts. In Christ, we come to know the Giver.
As we walk with the psalmist this week, may our eyes be opened to God’s blessings, our hearts overflow with gratitude, and our lives become songs of praise that point others to Christ.
