On a lively Saturday night, April 11, Advent Lutheran Church was filled with energy, laughter, and the steady focus of teams gathered for a shared purpose. Puzzle Night brought together members, friends, and neighbors for more than just friendly competition—it became a meaningful act of community support.
This special event was organized to raise funds for the LaGrange College chapter of Delta Tau Delta, whose national philanthropic partner is Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Through this effort, participants contributed to ongoing work supporting individuals and families affected by Type 1 Diabetes, transforming a simple activity into a mission-driven gathering.

The highlight of the evening came as the final pieces fell into place. With careful coordination and determination, Jane and Emily Brubaker of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church completed their puzzle first, earning both recognition and the coveted rotating puzzle tabletop prize. Their teamwork reflected the spirit of the event—focused, joyful, and collaborative.
Beyond the competition, Puzzle Night created space for connection. Conversations flowed across tables, encouragement was shared between teams, and every participant played a role in supporting a greater cause. The room itself became a living picture of community—many pieces coming together to form something whole.
As the evening concluded, what remained was more than completed puzzles. It was a renewed sense of fellowship, a shared commitment to service, and a reminder that even small acts—like placing one piece at a time—can contribute to meaningful change.
What piece will you bring next?
