Advent Lutheran Church Calls Rev. Dr. Jasson K. Levi

It is not often that a congregation’s next chapter begins with someone already walking alongside it. At Advent Lutheran Church, that is exactly how this new chapter has unfolded. On September 27, 2026, the congregation voted unanimously to call Rev. Dr. Jasson K. Levi as its pastor, beginning October 4.

Pastor Levi became a member of Advent on January 12, 2025, and later served the congregation as a Synod Authorized Minister (SAM) from September 30, 2025, through September 30, 2026. During that year, he became increasingly woven into Advent’s worship, preaching, pastoral care, fellowship, and community outreach.

That passion also shapes his current writing. Drawing from an intellectual and vocational memoir, Pastor Levi is developing a narrative exploring what he calls the “communication of presence”—how human presence itself can communicate care, hope, meaning, and connection across ministry, healthcare, organizations, families, and everyday life.

On August 21, 2026, he was approved for reception onto the roster of Ministers of Word and Sacrament of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Pastor Levi shares this journey with his wife, Gordar Buberwa, whose presence and partnership have accompanied his life and ministry across many seasons.

For Advent, this call is both new and familiar: a new pastor, yet someone who first came as a member, worshiped among the congregation, served alongside its people, and now has been called from among them to walk with Advent into its next chapter of ministry.
