Most of us spend our lives searching.
We search for peace when life feels unsettled. We search for security when the future feels
uncertain. We search for meaning, hoping that the next achievement, the next relationship, or the
next season of life will finally satisfy the deepest longing of our hearts.
The prophet Isaiah offers a different perspective.
He describes God standing in a busy marketplace, not selling another product, but extending an
unexpected invitation:
“Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55:1)
At first, that sounds impossible. In our world, almost everything has a price. Yet God’s greatest
gifts—His love, forgiveness, mercy, and eternal life—cannot be purchased. They are freely given
through Jesus Christ.
Jesus echoes Isaiah’s invitation when He says, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and
drink.” Our deepest needs are not met by achieving more or owning more, but by receiving the
grace Christ freely offers.
When we come to Christ, our search finally finds its home. We discover that the One we have
been searching for has been inviting us all along:
“Come.“
This week, take five quiet minutes to read Isaiah 55:1–5 and ask, “Lord, what have I been
searching for that only You can give?” Then take time to listen.
